Armen Gnepp, Dr.

Dr. Armen Gnepp, a devoted educator, lifelong learner, and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and quiet dedication to others.

 

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1941, he was the beloved son of the late Louis and Margaret (Soukiassian) Gnepp. He had one brother, Eric, who preceded him in death.  Armen grew up with a deep appreciation for learning that would shape the course of his life. He went on to pursue a career in mathematics, a field he loved for its elegance and precision. He earned his PhD from Rutgers University and for over 40 years, he served as a respected math professor at Burlington County College, where he inspired countless students with his intelligence, patience, and genuine passion for teaching. Known as a tough but fair teacher, he believed strongly in students earning their grades and took pride in helping them rise to meet high expectations. His classroom was a place where discipline, encouragement, and intellectual growth went hand in hand—an environment that reflected both his high standards and his deep care for his students.

 

Dr. Gnepp made his home in Browns Mills, New Jersey, where he was known not only as a dedicated educator but also as a thoughtful neighbor and loyal friend. After retiring, he relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed a quieter pace of life, warm sunshine, and time for reflection.

 

He had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures and meaningful pursuits. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and caring for his cherished 1976 Datsun 280Z. He loved sailing and generously shared that passion by teaching others how to sail on the Barnegat Bay in New Jersey. A proud Philadelphia native, he was also a loyal fan of the Phillies and the Eagles, rarely missing a chance to follow his teams. He had a great appreciation for jazz music and loved traveling, exploring many places throughout his life.

 

He was a devoted father and is survived by his two daughters, Janine Evanish, (Dr. John) of Moscow PA and Melani Bobson of Vero Beach FL

 

He was a proud grandfather to John “Jake” Evanish IV (Alyssa) Dr. Evan Evanish, (Dr. Krista), and Gemma Evanish; and great-grandchildren, John “Jack” Evanish V, Rylan Evanish, Augustine Evanish, and William Evanish.

 

He will be remembered for his sharp mind, strong principles, and the lasting impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. Whether through his teaching, his conversations, or his steady presence, Armen enriched the lives of many.

 

A life so meaningfully lived leaves an enduring mark. Dr. Armen Gnepp will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday April 17, 2026, 11:00 AM, at St. Eulalia Parish, 214 Blue Shutters Road Roaring Brook Twp. PA The Reception will follow immediately after at the Elmhurst Country Club 319 Gardner Road Moscow, PA . Donations may be made to the Rowan at Burlington County Student Scholarship Fund.
