Beverly Pope Sears

Beverly Pope Sears passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at age 76, after facing cancer with extraordinary courage and grace. Beverly embraced every single day with vigor, joy, and purpose. Celebrated for her boundless energy, professional brilliance, and remarkable organizational skills, her greatest gift was her caring nature and genuine passion for helping those around her succeed. 

 

A graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Beverly channeled her talents into diverse leadership roles across Palm Beach County. Whether serving as President of Seacoast Utilities, Executive Director of the Northern Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce, or Operations Manager for Early Childhood Education with the School District of Palm Beach County, she poured her heart into making her community better. She was proud to serve as President of Executive Women of the Palm Beaches and loved connecting with people through community traditions, notably coordinating volunteers during the early years of SunFest in West Palm Beach.

 

Reunited in peace with her parents, Carl and Martha Varnell; her beloved husband, Michael F. Sears; and her loving partner later in life, Carl Lucas, Beverly’s memory will be tenderly held in the hearts of those she leaves behind: the Sears and Lucas families; her brother, Warren Varnell (Elacia); her cherished godson, Daniel Steele; and a vast circle of extended family and friends. Her spirit will live on in every life she touched, and she will be forever missed, forever honored, and forever loved. 

 

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Northwood Funeral Home & Crematory, 5608 Broadway, West Palm Beach, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Beverly’s memory to a charity of your choice, or simply by performing an act of kindness in her honor.
